- Mitch McConnell handed out custom bottles of Old Crow bourbon to GOP senators during a luncheon in Kentucky.
- Old Crow is the name of a Kentucky-made bourbon whiskey.
- It's also an unflattering nickname used by former President Donald Trump to describe McConnell.
Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell trolled former President Donald Trump by gifting Republican senators personalized bottles of Old Crow bourbon, The Daily Mail reported.
McConnell, who has drawn the ire of Trump in recent years, gave his GOP colleagues the bourbon bottles during a Thursday luncheon ahead of Saturday's Kentucky Derby horse racing event, the newspaper said.
The bottles, images show, have a picture of 80-year-old McConnell beneath the Old Crow branding.
Old Crow is a brand of bourbon whiskey made in Kentucky, McConnell's home state, and an unflattering nickname bestowed on him by the former president.
Trump has repeatedly called McConnell an"old crow," alongside other insulting nicknames, most recently doing so during a Pennsylvania rally on Friday night.
The former president said he stopped short of calling McConnell something ruder on Friday because of his fear of former first lady Melania Trump telling him off, Insider reported.
McConnell has previously made light of Trump's name-calling.
In February, he shrugged off his "old crow" nickname. "It's my favorite bourbon," McConnell said, per the Washington Examiner.
In July 2021, he described the "old crow" moniker as "quite an honor."
Trump turned on McConnell after he failed to support his election lies. His animosity towards the Kentucky senator grew when McConnell participated in passing President Joe Biden's $1.2 trillion infrastructure package.
